Working Perth plots, week in, week out.
Coverage across PH1 / PH2
Perth is our closest large town — a straight run east on the A85. We work every week across PH1 and PH2, from the Victorian terraces of the West End and Craigie, to the 1960s and 70s estates around Letham and Muirton, and the rural fringes at Scone, Bridge of Earn, Almondbank and Methven. Because we're only twenty-odd miles up the road at Templemill Farm Cottage in Crieff, a site visit rarely means a wait.
Response times to Perth
Most Perth enquiries are quoted the same day or next. For a genuine emergency — a limb down on the drive, a fence flattened by wind on the exposed Tay-side — we can usually get eyes on the job within 24 hours during Mon–Sun working hours. Booked works typically start inside 1–3 weeks depending on tree-surgery scheduling and materials.
Familiarity with Perth property types
We know what Perth gardens actually are. Long thin plots behind Craigie sandstone terraces. Sloping rear gardens on the escarpment above the North Inch. New-build plots at Bertha Park and Oudenarde with topsoil pans an inch thick over builder's rubble. Big, exposed gardens on the way to Bridge of Earn where the wind funnels up the Tay. That's the terrain — no surprises for us, no learning curve on your job.
What we do most in Perth.
Every service linked below is a full, self-contained page — pricing basis, methods, materials, guarantees and FAQs.
Tree Surgery
Mature sycamores, limes and Scots pines on the older Perth plots — climbed, reduced or felled by qualified climbers, waste chipped on site.

Pressure-treated close-board fences to replace the panelled 6ft runs that don't last a Tay winter — set in concrete, done once.

Beech, leylandii and privet boundary hedges through the older terraces — annual cuts or full reduction where they've got away from the owner.

Perth plots we work on.
Victorian & Edwardian terraces (West End, Craigie, Bridgend)
Long, narrow rear gardens, often stepped, with mature boundary trees planted before anyone thought about mortar joints. Access is usually through a shared close or a side gate — we bring cordless kit and small chippers so we don't need to drag branches through the house.
1960s–80s estates (Letham, Muirton, Tulloch)
Standard 6ft fence lines, panels rotted at the bottom, mature limes and cherries planted by the council that are now too big. We replace fence runs with proper pressure-treated close-board and reduce or remove trees where they've outgrown the plot.
New-build family plots (Bertha Park, Oudenarde, Almond Valley)
Compacted subsoil under an inch of topsoil, drainage nowhere, patchy turf. The developer 'garden' rarely survives its first summer. We strip, cultivate, add topsoil and either lay turf or build a low-maintenance design from scratch.
Rural fringes (Scone, Bridge of Earn, Methven, Almondbank)
Bigger plots, established shelter belts, ex-farmland boundaries. Common jobs are shelter-belt thinning, fence-line clearance, gravel drives long enough to actually drain properly, and hedge-line reinstatement.
What comes up in Perth.
Tay-corridor wind damage
The Tay funnels westerlies through Perth harder than most realise. Panel fences on the exposed side of any plot get destroyed every 5–8 years. We spec close-board with concrete-set posts as the standard replacement — not panels.
Mature limes and sycamores in tight terraces
The city's older streets were planted before modern setbacks. Roots lift paths, crowns block light, and honey-fungus is common on limes reaching end-of-life. Reductions and felling are the two most-quoted tree jobs in PH2.
New-build drainage
Developer topsoil at Bertha Park, Oudenarde and Almond Valley is often 25–40 mm over compacted clay. Nothing establishes. We cultivate to a proper depth, add turf-grade topsoil, and lay drainage where required.
Overgrown boundaries between long terraces
Twelve-foot leylandii between two Craigie back-gardens is a familiar call. We take them down and dig out the stumps, or reduce and reshape into a manageable 5–6ft screen — whichever the neighbour negotiation lands on.
Post-storm callouts
Named-storm season (Nov–Feb) brings limb failures on older street trees and fence-panel destruction. We prioritise safety-critical calls first — a branch on a car or blocking a drive gets seen quickly.
Same five steps, every Perth job.
