What hardwood logs actually involves.
What it is
Hardwood firewood logs supplied in bulk builder's bags. Two options: kiln-dried, ready-to-burn logs at £140 per bulk bag, or fresh-cut (unseasoned) at £95 per bulk bag for customers happy to season the wood themselves.
Who it's for
Wood-burner and stove owners, open-fire households, pizza-oven users, hot-tub owners with wood-fired heaters, and self-catering and holiday-let owners providing logs for guests.
When it's needed
Kiln-dried logs can be delivered and used straight away, any time of year. Fresh-cut logs are best ordered a season ahead so they can be stored and dried before burning.
Why professional help matters
The difference between a good burn and a poor one is moisture content. Kiln-dried hardwood at under 20% moisture lights easily, burns hot and produces very little smoke. Wet or poorly-seasoned wood glazes flues, creates tar and gives out half the heat.
What happens when this gets put off.
The reason people call us is almost always that the small job is now a bigger one. Here's what's usually happening under the surface.
Flue tar and glazing
Burning under-dry wood coats flues in tar and creates a chimney-fire risk over time.
Poor heat output
Wet wood spends its energy boiling off water — you burn far more, and get less warmth.
Smoke and neighbour complaints
Fresh-cut or damp softwood smokes badly. Kiln-dried hardwood does not.
Storage failure
Logs stacked directly on the ground draw damp and never dry out — you end up with an unusable pile.
Common mistakes we're called in to fix
- Buying by 'net bag' — you get a fraction of what a bulk bag holds.
- Buying fresh logs and burning them the same week.
- Storing logs indoors before they've air-dried — brings in moisture and, sometimes, insects.
- Mixing softwood and hardwood loads without labelling — they burn very differently.
- Under-covering an outdoor log store — top-cover only, sides open, is the rule.
Step by step, so nothing surprises you.

Hardwood Logs — the full picture.
Firewood is only as good as its species, its moisture content and how it's stored. Below is what we supply and how to make the most of it.
Methods & materials
Kiln-dried hardwood
Hardwood logs dried to under 20% moisture in a controlled kiln — ready for the stove or open fire immediately.
Fresh-cut hardwood
Freshly-processed hardwood at natural moisture — priced lower and intended for customers with the space and time to season it over 12–24 months.
Bulk bag delivery
Standard bulk builder's bag — the industry-standard unit for firewood volume.
Placement
Delivered to a spot on your property you can access — driveway, side gate, log-store area (access permitting).
Variations we cover
Household stove and open fire
Kiln-dried is the sensible default — burns clean, easy to light, high heat.
Pizza ovens and outdoor kitchens
Kiln-dried hardwood only, for the temperature and cleanliness required.
Hot tubs and wood-fired heaters
Kiln-dried preferred for a fast, clean burn.
Bonfires, fire pits, chimineas
Either kiln-dried for a cleaner burn or fresh-cut if smoke is not a concern.
Residential vs commercial
For households the main use is heating and evening fires. For self-catering and holiday-let owners, kiln-dried logs supplied to guests are a practical amenity — bulk bags stack easily and last a full let cycle.
